BMW Comes Through on Promise to Deliver 100,000 Electrified Vehicles in 2017

In January 2017, BMW Group announced a stated goal to
deliver 100,000 electrified vehicles to customers across the globe during the course of the year. With that achievement
realized, the company used a lighting installation to transform its world-famous
“Four-Cylinder” headquarters into four
upright “batteries” this past December — highlighting the technological
change that’s happening throughout the automotive industry.

Having been on the
vanguard of electro-mobility, BMW now offering has
plans in place to offer 25 fully-electric and plug-in hybrid models by the year
2025, rolling out such new models as the i8 Roadster that debuts in 2019, the electric
version of the BMW X3 coming in 2020 and the BMW iNext due in 2021.

Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management
of BMW AG, stated in a press release, “We deliver on our promise. This 99-metre-high signal is lighting the way into the
era of electro-mobility. Selling 100,000 electrified cars in one year is an
important milestone, but this is just the beginning for us. Since the
introduction of the BMW i3 in 2013, we’ve delivered over 200,000 electrified
cars to our customers and by 2025, we will offer 25 electrified models to our
customers. Our early focus on electro-mobility has made this success possible –
and electro-mobility will continue to be my measure for our future success.”
