BMW 5 Series Performance

2020 BMW 5 Series MPG Ratings

The BMW 5 Series is a popular sedan among commuters in our area, so it’s understandable that drivers would want to know what kind of mileage it gets. Check out the specs below for an overview of the BMW 5 Series MPG ratings as estimated by the EPA:

  • 2.0L TwnPower Turbo I-4: 25 city/33 highway MPG
  • 3.0L TwinPower Turbo V6: 22 city/30 highway MPG

Note that the above specs are for front-wheel-drive (FWD) gas-powered models. The xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is available with both powertrains and standard with the 4.4L BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. This engine gets an EPA-estimated 18 city/25 highway MPG.

For an even more efficient drive, you can go for the available 530e hybrid model. This pairs a 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo I-4 engine with an electric motor to improve your EPA-estimated fuel efficiency to 69 combined MPG with FWD and 65 combined MPG with xDrive AWD.

BMW 5 Series Safety Features

High-tech and alert, the BMW 5 Series is equipped with driver-assisting features that are designed to help improve driver safety and awareness. These include:

  • Daytime Pedestrian Protection
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Active Cruise Control
  • Cross-Traffic Alert

This luxury sedan also comes with Evasion Aid. It springs into action in the face of unexpected obstacles to provide automatic driving assistance. For example, if there’s a hazard up ahead that braking alone can’t mitigate, it’ll help guide you into a clear lane of travel to avoid an impact.

Active Blind Spot Detection can help you navigate more crowded roadways, as well. It alerts you to vehicles in your side blind spots, so that you can merge or change lanes safely and with more confidence.
